The Owners

Tom and Diane McCormick

​

Tom and Diane had a dream of serving couples in their commitment to each other as husband and wife. Inspired by planning their daughter's wedding in May 2017, they began their search for the perfect space to welcome brides and grooms. Tom and Diane immediately fell in love with The Barns of Kanak and took ownership of the property in August 2018.

​

Diane leads The Barns by welcoming new couples and giving tours on the property. She also serves as a day-of coordinator and your point of contact for questions throughout the wedding planning process. Because of her sincere interest in each couple's love story, she will quickly make you feel like family. Born and raised in Arizona, Diane loves antiques, traveling, and the tiny details that make a wedding unique.

Tom serves The Barns by managing the grounds, overseeing operations, and organizing corporate events.He has a passion for serving others and will make your wedding a top priority. With years of experience in the customer service industry, he is a compassionate and client-focused member of The Barns of Kanak team. Also from Arizona, he loves spending time with his family, being outdoors, and planning trips around the world.

Client Experience Consultant

Kylie Hester

​

Kylie graduated from the University of Richmond with a dual degree in Business Administration and Dance in 2017. Before joining the family business in 2018, she worked in customer service for Vanguard in Charlotte, NC. At The Barns, she coordinates weddings, gives tours, manages logistics, oversees marketing, and mix of other things. Kylie's main role is ensuring that all couples and clients feel welcomed and loved during their experience here at The Barns.

Kylie loves building relationships and living vicariously through brides. Planning her May 2017 wedding was one of her favorite seasons of life, and she can't wait to get to know you and your wedding vision.

​

When she's not coordinating a wedding, you can find her snuggling her son, Manoah, and her dogs. She also loves ice cream, calligraphy, and volunteering with Guiding Eyes for the Blind and the youth at Chapel RVA.

Event Planner

Delaney Young

​

Delaney graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a cognate in Strategic Marketing and Management from Liberty University Online Program in Spring 2020. She brings experience from her previous role as an Intern at The Battersea Foundation and Events Assistant at Richard Bland College. Delaney serves as the Event Planner at The Barns and walks alongside couples as they plan their big day, whether that's through wedding coordination or full planning. When it comes to weddings, she loves the creativity and personality that can be seen in the tiniest, unique details.

 

Delaney and her husband, Ryan, had an intimate ceremony at The Barns of Kanak in June 2020 due to the closures of COVID-19. She had to be flexible with her vision but was still able to enjoy the beautiful day with her closest family. She loves welcoming new couples to The Barns family and helping bring their wedding visions to life, even in all of life's unexpected moments.

 

In her free time, she also enjoys going to the gym, watching movies with Ryan and their dog, Maggie, or riding her horse, Clue. She recently became a mama to an adorable boy, too!

Event Coordinator

Emily Hartman

​

Emily began working in Customer Service & Project Management shortly after graduating high school in 2015. In December 2017, Emily got engaged to her now husband, Sam, and got married at The Barns of Kanak in December 2018. Emily and Sam had a cozy Christmas wedding!

 

Before joining The Barns of Kanak team in 2021, Emily would coordinate weddings for friends and family alongside her mom. It’s always been a dream of hers to one day work for a wedding venue doing what she loves - building relationships and making couples' big day everything they envisioned.

 

Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughters, Wyatt and Remy, and their golden retriever, Maggie. She also enjoys trying new restaurants with friends and family and loves all things Christmas.

Event Coordinator

Stacie Gray

​

Stacie graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021. In May 2022, Stacie got engaged to her high school sweetheart Brandon, and they got married at The Barns of Kanak in November 2023!

 

Planning her wedding brought so much joy and sparked her interest in joining the wedding industry. As an event coordinator, she loves to hear about her couples’ wedding day dreams and serve them the best way she can. Some of her favorite wedding traditions are personal vows and a newlywed private dance.

 

Stacie enjoys spending time with her husband and her 2 corgis – Bentley and Nova. She also enjoys supporting local coffee shops, exploring new places and all things fall!

Farm Dog

Mango

​

Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Mango comes to The Barns with over seven years of customer service experience. His specialty is making people smile with doggie kisses and booty-shaking tail wags. When he's not running around the grounds of The Barns, you can most definitely find him taking a snooze.

Dallas​

​

Dallas has four very full years of event experience under his belt, and he still brings great energy to the team. His diverse breed mix (Boxer, American Staffordshire Terrier, Chihuahua, and Bull Dog) gives him a unique perspective on the team. When he's not frolicking on the grounds, he loves learning fun new tricks to show off to other pups and human friends.
